Prodigy is back! Season 2 dropped on netflix today and I've watched the first couple of episode and really enjoyed them. There's quite a lot of recapping and exposition but plenty of character and plot in those first two as well as it sets everything in motion.
Somethings I'd forgotten:
* The kids aren't in the Academy but some kind of prep school for the Academy.
* Ascenia the evil Vau n'akat from the future is still at large .
The EMH is back and it's nice to see him. He's toned it down but he's still pretty arrogant and brings up his holo-novels. It's unclear why Janeway need to bring him along as of yet. She already has a Medical Doctor the tellarite Noum, who is still present. In fact Janeway's senior staff selection is weird. She has just her XO and two medical Doctors and they seem to be manning bridge stations no less.
Admiral Janeway (Vice Admiral no less) is still captaining a ship which is weird at that rank but I guess par for the course, she was last season as well.
Gwynn's separate (for now) plotline is good but the drawback of sending her there in a shuttle with just one redshirt for back up was obvious and quickly apparently. I am impressed with how well John Noble portrays the younger version of her dad as such a different person.
